tirsdendreams: (redefinition of me)
I had a couple dreams before this one, all I can remember is being with Indiana Jones in a train station and kissing him to encourage him because he was really down, and later playing or being immersed in Splinter Cell, redoing checkpoints and making head shot kills. I've dreamed the Splinter Cell thing a *lot* lately.

Anyways, The first thing I remember in the final dream was being in a room shared by a couple of children, and I was standing by a little girl. The room belonged to her sister and brother. She was scared and I picked her up. She knew something important, something people were trying to get at her for. I was talking on the phone, probably to superiors, updating them on the situation. Then two older kids or teenagers tried to come in through the French doors on one side of the room, but I locked them just in time.

Then the little girl's father appeared, and I had a feeling he'd been treating her badly for some time. But this time he was here to find out this secret the girl knew. I was worried he'd get dangerous. I managed to convince him that the clue the little girl was going to give was somewhere in the closet (which was true) so he could find out what it was when we came back out. This seemed to placate him for the moment.

I locked myself and the little girl in the closet. It was huge, for a closet anyways, more like a small room. At the end was a child's bed, and I realized this was the little girl's room. There was a set of shelves with toys on it and a lot of clothes hanging around (like you'd expect in a closet). I put the girl down and she looked under the bed. I did too, but there was nothing there. Then she looked up behind the headboard of the bed and pulled something out that had been stuck back there.

It looked like a very damaged stem from a fake flower. I realized it was what was left of the red silk rose that a famous gangster used to wear in his suit pocket, and I also knew this ganster had owned the house many years ago. All that was left of this flower though was the green plastic stem which was falling apart, and had been split in one part so you could see the silver wire inside. There was a tiny dirty white leaf left on one stem. It looked like junk, but I knew better.

Before exiting the closet I tore off a shred of plastic from the stem and hid the main part in my shirt pocket, keeping the little useless bit in my hand. Back in the bedroom I gave it to the father person and said that's all it was, just trash. He stood there confused, looking at it. I left the house before he figured out otherwise. (I have no idea where the little girl went to.)

It's not that the junky stem was worth anything, it's what it meant: a clue to the location of a treasure rumored to have been left behind by the gangster. I remember finding the other clue in a pile of dirt in an unfinished lot elsewhere in town, and with the location of the two clues, I and a companion or two figured out where the treasure was: right in between the two locations on the map. We hopped into a cab and took off for the treasure's supposed location.

At this point it was like I was a gangster myself, the old 1920's kind, and my pals were my cohorts in crime or whatever. The father guy from back in the house became the leader of rival mobsters, and we knew he'd be trying to find us now and follow us to the treasure. We arrived at a big hill, it sort of reminded me of Mount Trashmore if you know what that is. Anyways it was a green hill in the middle of a park.

We dug into the top of this hill with shovels and found a chest. Inside the chest was... books and tea! There were lots more books and tea hidden inside this hill. In fact, the whole hill was just books and tea with sod on top of it. I said to one of my buddies, "You know how much this would have cost back then?" and he just sort of looked at me like he knew the answer but didn't want to say it. So I did: "A fortune." We realized the legendary gangster person had spent his entire fortune on this stuff, and I think I even knew it had probably been meant as a wedding present that hadn't managed to be given in time (before the ganster died, I assumed).

Then the other gansters showed up, our rivals. The leader was furious that all there was in the treasure heap was books and tea. He started throwing stuff around hoping to find some real money. I remember hoping he wouldn't damage the stuff because I thought it was valuable in a way other than monitary. Most of the books were still in excellent shape, and a lot of them had to be old, maybe rare or of historical value. I also remember laughing at the "bad guys" because they had been all hyped up over finding a huge fortune in money or gold and all there was was... books and tea.

Then I woke up.

I was with a little girl, and it seemed like she was a very close friend even though she was so young. She might have been about seven or eight years old. I was my normal age (27). I'm not sure where we came from or what we'd been doing, but somewhere in the dream I posted just before this I had gotten scissors from my Mom, and I was playing with them. I remember they were little sewing kit type scissors, two metal pieces of the right shape connected by a single tiny screw, which was rather loose. I wanted to fix them so they cut better, and managed to take the screw off. I put the pieces back together wrong, and put the screw back on. After fiddling with it some more I finally fixed the darn thing and got the screw snuggly in place. I'm not really sure where I was while I was doing all this.

The part I do remember very well was arriving back at the little girl's room in her parents' house, as if I'd been there before and was staying there for a while. I think there were a lot of people staying in the house, sort of a family reunion or something (but in reality nobody I know in real life was there, but in the dream it made sense). Anyways, the little girl's room was laid out like the following diagram:
             ----------------
             | |
window -->                  |
             ___________ |
             | | |
             | bed | | <-- door
             |_______|__|___|
(Note that the head of the bed was actually where most people would put the foot of the bed; in this room it was near the door instead of the far wall. I drew the pillow in there to help illustrate. The bed had a wooden headboard as well, and I think there was a footboard on the window side of the room.)

It was bed time, in fact I think it was way beyond bedtime, and we'd been in bed talking for a while. Apparently I was sleeping in the same bed as the little girl, which didn't seem weird in the dream. I still had the scissors I'd gotten from Mom. Either I or the girl found a loose strand of hair and I cut it. Then I found a very long strand of golden hair, it was really pretty yet really odd. It was thicker than normal hair, almost like thread. And it honestly looked like gold. I was thinking it must be from something or someone special (I was thinking of an elf, like Galadriel in The Lord of the Rings), and both of us were a little afraid that we had something like this in our posession. I was thinking about cutting it but something felt wrong with that idea, like it would bring some sort of danger upon us.

Then the hair was tied together at the ends, I don't remember doing that. Did it do it on its own? Now that it was a loop, I looped it back on itself until it was three or four loops, and the whole thing was much smaller now that it was looped more. I then held all the loops together by pulling it tight between my fingers and twisting it so that it made a thick cord. I told the little girl to cut it while I held it so that it didn't fall apart. She didn't seem sure about this, I think we'd discussed that it seemed a bad idea to cut it. But I think we knew we'd set something in motion and we were gonna have to go through with it. I also remember thinking I should be the one cutting it, but I let her do it. It didn't cut completely through in one snip, it sort of frayed weirdly. But after a couple more snips it cut through.

I said something like, "Alright, we've completed your spell, do what you will," to the air in general, thinking that whatever wanted us to do this thing would hear me. Nothing happened at all for a few moments. Then we heard very slow, soft thuds coming from the hallway behind the closed bedroom door. The little girl got very scared and I held her tight and watched the door from behind the headboard. I stared at the doorknob, which was a normal gold-colored doorknob, waiting for it to start turning. Even though it was shiny I was confident that I could see it turn, plus I thought it might shake very slightly when touched (I knew it was slightly loose).

I noticed at this point that the pattern on the door was a sort of latticework of wood that'd been made into a diagonal crossing pattern inside squares, a vaguely oriental look (this pattern came from the Splinter Cell Chinese Embassy levels). Then suddenly the doorknob had a very similar pattern on it, but just one square with the diagonals crossing inside it. Plus it had changed to a sort of cream color, like it was made of ivory or enamel. At least now I would know for sure when somebody turned it. And it was at this moment that I realized I was dreaming. But in my lucid moment I decided to wait and see what happened, as the dream plot seemed interesting enough without messing with it just yet. So I sat there holding the girl and staring at the doorknob.

The doorknob started to turn. Then the door whooshed open fast and I and the little girl screamed really loud (and I promptly forgot I was dreaming). But it turned out to be a guy who was staying at the house, and the girl's mother. The guy was a cop of some sort. He said something like, "What's wrong?" We apologized fast saying that we were scared it was someone or something else at the door. He accepted that and said he was there to take the little girl with him on some sort of bust because the police department did that sometimes as some sort of... educational thing? I have no clue now, but in the dream it made sense, in that I knew it was a normal thing, although I didn't feel it was very safe, even if they said it was.

The girl's mother seemed to be very pleased that her daughter had been chosen to go this time. But the girl didn't really seem to want to go, I think she wanted to be with me. There was still the thought of the golden hair and whatever cutting it might have done. And it was like the adults expected her to accept the invitation to go on the police thing, as if not wanting to go would be a horrifically outlandish thought. I'm not sure if she said she would go or not.

I don't remember any more.

This dream is really quite fuzzy now but I was so enthused with it last night that I even dreamed about verbally figuring out all the right words for the events that happened, with the thought of posting it here. Too bad I can't remember most of what I came up with... so here goes nothing.

I was playing the XBox game Halo 2, except I was actually in it. I remember talking to Dad about the game, as if he was watching. I was in a big huge room that was very dark and had these long, thin platforms to run on, high up off the floor. Falling would certainly cause death. I knew the end of the level was soon, but I wanted a better weapon because I was almost out of ammunition for the one I had, and I could see a really cool weapon up ahead (I think it was supposed to be a rail gun). I had a choice, I could follow the correct platform to the end of the level, or I could take a different turn really quickly and pick up this other weapon. Plus I was moving very slowly for some reason, and I knew that there was a "speed up" item along the same path as the weapon.

So I decided to go for the weapon and the speed increasing item. I just hit the speed thing when I noticed that my timer had only a couple seconds left on it (apparently if you ran out of time on a level you would die, like in Mario Brothers). So I died and I was so annoyed, but this time I knew I'd skip the whole picking up the extra weapon thing and just finish the level. I reloaded the game (yeah, I was still in it this whole time, I don't remember seeing the game on any sort of television screen) and found that it had automatically saved my progress back at the point where I'd picked up the speed item. Except now the speed item wasn't there, nor was the other weapon. Apparently they wouldn't respawn because I'd picked them up in the previous game, even though I'd lost them to dying.

I had tons of time on my timer now, however, so I took the right path/platform thingy to the end of the level. The next part was a sort of warehouse room and I saw spots of Flood on the wall (if you haven't played the Halo series, Flood is a nasty virus that turns people and aliens into freakish monsters). Then I found a computer on a desk and was thinking I should see if I could find any files on what had been going on at the warehouse... when a lady in a white lab coat asked me what I was doing. (This is where it started feeling like Half Life, a PC game.) Apparently this was her workstation, and she worked here. I was surprised to find anybody alive at this point, as I was sure the virus would have killed everyone off or turned them into mutants.

I said I was there to stop the virus or try, and asked her why she was still there, working as if nothing was going on. She said she had no idea there was anything wrong, that her company hadn't informed her of any such virus outbreak. She did seem to believe me but she didn't want to leave, so I told her to be very careful and to try and contact me if something went wrong in her area. (I have no clue *how* she was supposed to contact me, but it made sense in the dream). I left her and headed for the door to the next level.

Then I woke up.

Pirates!

Jul. 10th, 2005 12:05 pm
tirsdendreams: (redefinition of me)
It was a pirate ship full of evildoers and undead. My companions and I fought bravely (we were the "good pirates" as opposed to the evil ones) but in the end we were captured. Our leader was tied at the wrists with a long rope and hoisted high into the rigging as punishment. He caught a beam high up the main mast and suddenly I was him. The bad guys had left me a simple knife for some reason, or maybe they hadn't searched me well enough, and I held the blade in my teeth for a moment as I maneuvered myself onto the beam better. My friends were now up on the mast with me. I cut myself loose and we went back down the mast, leaping the last several feet to the deck and catching the others by surprise. A bunch of the evil pirates were now undead (must be thanks to the movie Pirates of the Caribbean). I was able to kick or punch some of the undead into smaller pieces and then throw them overboard into the water which was rushing by at incredible speed.

Then I realized that all this was make believe (even though we could see everything as if it was real). I was the father of one or more of the children who were making up this grand adventure, while the evil leader of the bad pirates was the father of another boy who was supposed to be in charge of our capture, and possibly the ship in general.

We were winning the day, and the ship. I found the aft deck, which was a good ten or fifteen feet below where I stood. I saw the "evil" boy down there being chastized by his father for letting things go to heck. The boy who was in trouble was sort of pudgy, and he was being disbanded from the pirates for his failure. I lept towards the deck below...

And turned into a woman in a white victorian dress, floating gently down to land softly on my feet. I seemed to inspire awe and reverence in all the children (the evil father figure had left) and I felt an incredible loving, glowing warmth inside me, like I was the deified concept of "the mother" from Peter Pan come to life. The pudgy boy looked like he was going to cry. I asked him what was wrong, and he said nobody wanted to play with him anymore, that nobody liked him.

I felt so sorry for the little boy (who might have been my son, it was hard to tell in the dream because the players seemed so oddly general), and I pulled him close and comforted him. I said, "Mommy loves you... and Daddy loves you too, when he isn't being grumpy." This seemed to make the boy feel better, and he left, probably going back to playing with the other children. (I'm not sure if the evil father was supposed to be my husband or what... it's almost like this story was seen from the naive point of view of a child.)

There was another younger boy who didn't leave with the others. He was maybe five years old, dressed in a sort of Buddhist monk outfit, probably something he picked out of dress-up clothes. He even had a bald head, and his eyes were sparkling pools of wonder that made him look like the most sweet, innocent thing. He was enthralled with me, and also a thin gold necklace I was wearing. I said something to him, something like, "Do you like it?" and I tried to put it on him, but it snagged and I couldn't get it on him. So I put it back on me and asked him if he thought it made me look pretty. He didn't say anything but I could tell that he thought I was the most beautiful thing in the world.

Then I realized that he only seemed to be feeling the necklace, and not looking at it directly. I wondered if the poor child was blind, or partly blind, and nobody had figured it out yet (he wasn't my child, but I may have known his parents). My fear was that he was entirely blind (how nobody would notice that doesn't make sense beyond the dream) but then he focused on the necklace and might have said something and I was content that he could at least see, even if I didn't know how well. Then there was some nonsense about unrolling a scarf from around a paper roll, and the end of it was attached to the roll with three pieces of duct tape.

Then I woke up.

Kill Bill

Jun. 29th, 2005 02:10 am
tirsdendreams: (redefinition of me)
I dreamed that I was in the movie Kill Bill, as "B" the main character played by Uma Thurman. I even had the wicked cool sword, and I remember the scabard being blue with a couple silver Chinese characters on it.

I went into a gift shop, either looking for one of Bill's underlings to kill, or information on him. I forget. But as I was thinking of leaving I noticed that the cashier lady was suddenly doing things that would hint that she was closing up shop. And it was the middle of the day. Suspicion ran through my mind just as someone attacked me from the side.

Then I was fighting this ninja-dressed lady outside in the dark (went from day to night just like that, WTF!). She was the one who'd attacked me in the store. I was standing on the far side of a short bit of road that went around the building (I think the one I'd been in, but we were on the back side of it now). I was close to one corner of this road with the ninja lady, fighting furiously (she had a sword too). I glanced back and saw Bill walk into view at the other back corner of the road.

As I continued deflecting the ninja lady's strikes at me I saw Bill draw two strange looking knives. They had long, thin blades that looked more like fat iron needles with hilts than actual knives. He threw them both at me and I managed to hit them away from me with my sword. I spun around and stabbed the ninja in her throat, then turned around again to see what Bill was going to do next.

He took out some strange throwing star sort of things, but larger, like several ninja stars welded together in the middle so it made a sort of lethal frisbee shaped thing. He had two of these, and threw them at me. I dodged one but the other cut me about half way up my left thigh. It hurt but it wouldn't affect my fighting much except that suddenly I felt drowsy. I realized that he'd drugged the blades on the thing, probably so that he'd incapacitate me if he didn't manage to kill me.

I fell to the ground, it was getting hard to see and I was so tired and dizzy. Things went black as I heard Bill walk up and say something. I don't know what he said, I couldn't concentrate well enough. I passed out.

Then I woke up.

tirsdendreams: (<3)
A strange title for a strange dream. It started in a canyon-ish cave system, kind of like the red rock area in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade where the hidden temple was at the end of the movie. It seems like I and some companions were hiding, but I don't remember what from. I found this smallish critter that had a really fat body but was very agile, and it climbed all over me. I was worried because it was a wild animal and wasn't sure what it was going to do. It seemed quite taken with me though, and when it reached my face, it started licking my lips like there was no tomorrow. At least it wasn't trying to kill me... it was almost like a mother trying to wash a kid's face. I managed to get the thing off my face and it contented itself with a deathgrip on my hand and licked my fingers instead. Guess it thought I needed a bath.

The next thing I remember was later in the dream, don't know what happened to the licking-happy critter. I was standing in a stone courtyard that appeared to be in disrepair. My brother Jamie was there, and we found a turtle near a round stone fountain that was set in the middle of the courtyard. The turtle was all green, like he had been dyed or painted, and the color itself seemed to inhibit the turtle's movements. Then his shell started to fall apart, it came off entirely and broke into pieces. Either me or Jamie put them back on and they seemed to refit together and begin healing. I think we left the turtle on the ledge by the water, afraid that putting him in the water would mess with his shell.

Then I remember playing EverQuest, as my dwarf warrior, but it was like I was really in the game. I was killing stuff by myself for fun, I remember being in a cave dungeon (I though it was a redone version of Sol B if anyone plays the game and knows the reference) and I killed three orcs. They considered green (easy fight, no experience), light blue (fairly easy), and green (but the last one still gave me experience, which happens rarely in EverQuest). The loot on the first one was a +75 mana necklace that looked like the platinum sapphire necklace in the game. I was very happy to find that, because the odds were good that it was way more mana than the necklaces on most of my caster characters, if not all of them. The second orc's loot was one spikey shoulder pad armor piece, I remember thinking it must be fairly new but it was probably crap even though it looked cool. I took it.

The last orc had a couple more pieces of the funky spikey armor, and also a complete set of white cloth armor obviously designed for a wizard. In fact there was a hat in the set that looked kinda Gandalf-ish, but more like the wizard hats from Final Fantasy XI (or the one Black Mage wears in various FF games). I was thinking the stuff may not be worth hauling around because it would take up a lot of inventory space and I was sure it wasn't worth much... but then I thought I'd make a new character, a wizard. I'd make Kaesora (my multipurpose roleplay character, she's an albino elven sorceress) and she'd be fun to dork around with since there was actually some all-white gear I could put on her (in my stories her normal outfit is white).

So I had just finished deciding to take all the loot when I heard some friends yelling at me, they wanted me to come play with them, so I should meet them at the entrance to the dungeon. I thought I knew the way... I jumped down further into the dungeon and ended up on the goblin side (apparently there were two factions ruling this dungeon, orcs on one side and goblins on the other). Crap! I knew this meant I'd gone the wrong way, and the stuff on this end was higher level.

The dream gets sort of fuzzy here, it seems like I met up with my friends just in time to fight some sort of big boss monster. But now the game changed and it was a quasi-table-top RPG, but we were still actually IN the game. Like, little people moving along a messed up chessboard-like playing area. I knew we were on a table though. Some pieces of the chessboard stuff floated here and there by themselves. We used the squares marked out by the chessboard pattern to count how far we could move each turn. And if you pushed a bad guy off the board and onto the floor, they'd die and not come back.

I made it to the big boss's area, which was half way between the floor and the table (I jumped down to get there). My buddies were trying to make it to me, and I remember Jamie rolling dice and hitting the boss (so he was now part of the game). The boss lost a bunch of pieces of himself, he was sort of a weird 3D bubble man thing. As the other parts of his body slowly came back towards him, all that was there at the moment was his torso. I was now Kaesora, the version I'd been planning to make for EverQuest, and it's like when we started the table-top RPG we'd all chosen mid-level characters instead of starting at level 1, sort of a test run for later games.

I used an ice spell against the boss. I rolled a bunch of dice (and I mean a bunch) and I remember some of them were pink. My total roll was 57. Then we had to look up the rules to figure out what my spell had hit for... and eventually figured out I had to multiply my roll by 105. Dang, nice hit! But right then the boss pushed me off the board, and I fell. I remember hitting the floor and dying, my body got all tingly and faded away and I remember what I could see faded to black. But I wasn't worried because it was like I had several lives (like a video game) or maybe even indefinite lives, and that I'd be respawning on the board, but probably back at the beginning, on the far side of the table from the boss fight.

Then I woke up.

I dreamed about a lot of things last night (yeah, took Unisom, that seems to make it worse). The only one I'm going to get into though is a brief visit to the world of Riddick, except he'd been dropped into a more modern day earth setting.

It started at night on a passenger train, sort of Amtrack idea mixed with a Japanese bullet train (it went very fast, in other words). Riddick had been captured by either a cop or a federal agent. I am not sure if Riddick killed him, or if circumstances allowed him to get away, but something happened to make the power on various sections of the train go out, and Riddick had escaped.

I became him, and found an empty passenger compartment. There were people or guards searching the train, but not very well, like they were only worried that weird things were going on with the train's power, not that a dangerous criminal was on the loose. I climbed up into a baggage rack to hide for a moment (above one row of seats, it was kinda like the cabins they have in Harry Potter on the Hogwarts Express). A guard went by, opened the door, and shone a flashlight around the compartment but not up towards the ceiling where I was hiding.

After he left, I opened or kicked out the window, then pulled the emergency break cord. When the train was going slow enough (but still fairly fast) I jumped and caught a lamp post or something like that, and then slid to the ground. I wanted to get as far away from the tracks and the whole area as possible, there was the thought in my mind that the guy who'd captured me earlier was still alive and would come after me.

The area was very wooded, a lot of pine trees, but I could see the lights of a town in the valley ahead. I was thinking of finding transportation or stealing some money or something there, if I could do it without being seen or word of my actions getting to the agent guy too quickly. Heh, I was definitely in the mind of a criminal for this dream. As I was heading for the lights though, some guy showed up on an embankment beside me and asked me if I needed a ride. Then he said, "Here comes one!" and there was a bright light beyond the embankment. Ahead of me was a sort of road/path cut into the grass and trees, and a semi truck came barreling through at high speed. The guy on the embankment jumped and managed to grab something on the truck and away he went on top of the truck.

I got to the top of the embankment and thought about trying to catch a ride in this new, weird way, but then I noticed that I was near a sidewalk. And suddenly it was broad daylight. The sidewalk went into a suburban neighborhood, but first you had to go under these weirdly trimmed trees, they were like big squared off blocks of hedge that hadn't been pruned up high enough, and stretched out to the street. There was a guy on the far side of the hedges, standing on the sidewalk amongst a bunch of kids toys (like Little Tikes stuff). He was wearing a grey suit and looked kinda sleezy (he had a goatee and shoulder length greasy black hair that was wavy, kinda looked like Yanni on drugs), but I could tell he was a cop. The thought that he was a crooked cop went through my head.

I guess I decided to find out, for whatever reason, because I went towards him (under the stupid tree things) and he invited me into his house, which was the one he was standing in front of. I think he even knew who I was. I followed him inside, to the back of the house, which had high ceilings and seemed nicely and simply decorated, sort of a mix of beach house and Ikea stuff. The walls and ceiling were white, and most of the decor was as well, although I think the carpet was a very light blue, as were some of the accents. It felt to me like the perfect setting for a fake goody two shoes cop and his perfect family. I knew better... the dude HAD to be crooked. Call it criminal instinct.

There was a little girl, the man's daughter, and she was coloring at a table in the room we'd come to, it must have been the living room, attached to a kitchen with a bar. The little girl was coloring with crayons (or colored markers?) on a very long piece of white paper, on the coffee table by the couch. She wasn't sitting on the couch, just on the floor by the coffee table. She asked me if I wanted to color too. She was probably only about seven years old.

I think all I did was sit down on the couch, and there was a discussion over who was going to make lunch, and what it was going to be. I think the mother of the family was around, and said she'd make it, and the father and girl had a feeling it would be all nasty health-foodish, so one of them decided to make it instead. I remember thinking I'd be relatively safe for the moment, and maybe the cop had some ideas for my particular skill set, or a way to get me out of the area without the agent finding me. My odds of surviving by hanging out at this place seemed about as good as anything else.

Then I woke up.
