(Please note this is a dream just in case it isn't obvious enough. This is in no way a review or actual event description of any Soom products, service, or shipping, nor does it reflect those aspects of any other doll company. I haven't had a doll dream in ages, and then suddenly this nonsense hits. O.o;; )

In reality, I run the Soom 2012 Teenie Gem free choice event waiting room list at the Den of Angels doll forum. This dream took that concept, but turned it into a huge group order, and apparently almost everyone in the group order lived in the same area I did. Also, it wasn't a mix and match MD event but some kind of very last Teenie Gem MD doll that came out just before Soom stopped doing monthly dolls. I remember the names of the two dolls (boy and girl versions) were something close to Trachy and Lami but that wasn't it.

The big day of the mass order arriving had come, and some of the girls who had ordered with me were there to open the boxes. It wasn't a typical box opening, like everyone figuring out whose doll box was whose. There weren't even individual doll boxes, just a bunch of dolls and clothes packed in generic square-ish shipping boxes. This didn't strike me as odd in the dream somehow.

There didn't seem to be any organization to the stuff in the boxes, dolls and fantasy parts and clothing strewn all over. The dolls and fantasy parts were at least wrapped in bubble wrap. When I unwrapped the bubble wrap from a random doll, I was shocked by the faceup. Mind you, the doll's face was vinyl instead of resin (and I didn't actually notice that as being wrong until after waking up), and looked like it might have been a sleeping or no-eyes version of a mini DDung doll, with just a smooth area where the eyes were meant to be painted on, and a small point for the nose.

The faceup looked like it had been drawn on with either permanent marker or generic felt-tipped pen. Not only that, but it was done in an extremely messy style, which one could either call "kindergartener" or "someone trying to be reeeally artsy and hoping it flies." One of the other girls was looking at the doll with me, I think she was supposed to be geishacookie from the forum (dream made up what she looked like xD ). I said, "This can't be right... I'm going to look up the faceups on the site." I was so shocked about receiving the doll like that, that I was starting to doubt my own memory of what we ordered, even though I vaguely remembered cute Soom faceups and open eyes.

This also got me thinking, as I was trying to navigate the dream version of Soom's site (which was pretty nuts and didn't make much sense), that the dolls had sleeping heads and normal, open-eyed heads. Why was the sleeping head on one of the dolls by default? Were there more like this? I finally found the right page for the dolls we'd ordered, except it was broken down into a menu system that was missing the main pictures page. I found that a bit fishy, but finally found one of the main pictures after a little more searching.

The dolls looked like proper dolls on the site (and what my dream-memory said they should look like). The boy one was light blue and the girl one was light pink. The doll I'd opened was pretty much white, but I didn't actually notice that problem at the time (just went "wtf" after waking up). The pictures also showed the clothes, which was good because the other girls were trying to sort through the boxes and match up clothing items for the fullsets. Each fullset doll had two outfits, and for some reason a couple of my own random Yo-SD doll clothes and some 1/6 Obitsu-type shoes had gotten mixed in with everything on the floor where the sorting was taking place.

I didn't seem to reach any sort of definite conclusion about the faceups yet, distracted by going over to help sort the doll stuff some more. I had a bad feeling we were missing dolls and probably clothing, and yet this was supposed to be the whole shipment. I remember picking a red sheer-fabric jacket out of the clothing mess that was one of my non-Soom pieces, and a black lacy shirt of some sort. My kid sister showed up out of the blue and made a joke about the 1/6 Obitsu shoes, which were mostly black boots now in a Ziplock bag (they hadn't been before). I don't remember what she said, only that it was funny and possibly sarcastic, considering the mess the group order was turning out to be.

Then I woke up.

I have a doll on layaway that I should be paying off in April. He's a beautiful work of art, a 1/4 scale (if he were a real person) flower with a human face and body, with long delicate petal arms and petals on his head. For some reason I dreamed he arrived home last night, though it was daytime in the dream. I think someone was over, either my kid brother or Nightweaver (or possibly switched between one and the other at some point).

I got him out of the box and although the resin style of his body didn't make sense (it made so little sense I can't really even describe it), I thought it was normal in the dream. But as I held him, he started cracking in tiny fissures like spreading earthquake lines. I remember thinking, "Oh no, I'm going to have to tell MoC and get him replaced!" but I was most confused over how on earth he was even breaking like that.

I don't remember the rest.

Jailed

I don't remember much of this one anymore, except that I was a guy and was sent to prison for something (and I can't remember why). I do remember arriving at the prison with a large dollhouse, and for some reason I was allowed to keep it and everything inside it and security wasn't even allowed to go through it. The dollhouse had compartments that held things like candy, novelty erasers, and miscellaneous doll-related things. I think I had either packed the stuff up so long ago I couldn't remember what was in it, or I'd just bought/received it so I was going through all the little items seeing what I'd gotten.

The dream turned into something else and I don't remember what.

I don't actually own the doll yet, but I dreamed that I saw him as big as a full-size person yet still a ball-jointed doll, getting up and standing in... I think it was a field, but I'm not sure. The only real details I remember is him, that he wasn't wearing a shirt, and that he was looking at his hands and arms, a bit amazed to be actually alive.

Then I woke up.

Doll magic

I dreamed I was a little girl, not myself but some other girl, in a vaguely steampunk setting. I had a life-size doll, it looked like a teenage girl and was dressed in a lot of black, Victorian style. I tried to make her come to life (I don't remember how anymore) and it worked. The doll, however, seemed to recognize someone on the street when I took her for a walk. The stranger was a woman with long, dark hair and a big black bow in it. I changed perspectives to the doll, who really felt like she had to figure out why it was she knew this woman.

Then I woke up.

Most of this dream I'd rather not get into, but the parts that are worth posting are firstly that my kid sister had some sort of breathing problem, and had to get a magnet surgically installed in the back of her left lung that matched up with a magnet behind that in her back (yay dream logic). When walking beside her you could hear it snap together and pull apart, and she said you got used to it but I could imagine how it felt (and thus the dream logic helped me feel it). It was annoying and a bit painful.

The other part of the dream was later, in my kid sister's room (random dream creation version). She was on top of bunk beds she had (also random) and I was on the bottom one. I noticed and picked up a doll she had gotten a while ago from an obscure asian store or anime shop. Also with the doll was a sheet of stickers and stuff, and I was looking at this one piece of thin (yet fairly sturdy) plastic attached to the stickers with a paper clip. The plastic was probably about 3" by 4" at the most. I thought at first it was one of those stickers that changes depending on how you look at it. But I wasn't changing my view of the sticker...

I realized it was actually changing right before my eyes, but in a pattern. Three different screens merged in and out and repeated endlessly, with a pause to read or look at each screen. I realized this was the sort of technology I'd seen in the newspaper once (in real life), but the prototypes I saw were much thicker, larger, and only showed black and white (or well, black and clearish-aging-plastic-yellow). This thing was color (I remember blue and green the most), and it was small. There was no evidence of a computer chip either. The information on the sheet was some sort of detailed table like a statistics sheet for a toy related to a game (maybe Pokemon or something like Dungeons and Dragons), and the other two screens I think were either advertising or just art related to the toy. I don't think the doll had anything to do with the sheet or the stickers... so it was some other bonus from a toy. And I somehow knew the toy (and sheet/stickers) had cost almost nothing. They were junk, by Japan's standards.

I was amazed, and commented on this to my sister. She said, "Yeah, some of the labels do that too." I wasn't sure what she meant, but then I saw that some of the stickers on the sticker sheet changed as well. It was one particular set, with cute little messages in a font that reminded me of Harry Potter. The letters fuzzed out and reformed into a new message, so there were to messages for every sticker. And these were way tinier than the other plastic thing.

Then I woke up.

This seemed like a cross between Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and I'm not sure what else... I was in a town that had a lot of snow, and was very goth. Goth snow? Yes. There was a lot of black ironwork involved too. I was standing in a town square (except it was round).

Suddenly this new guy shows up, in a big float decorated with snow and black iron and blue icicles sticking straight up. He's dressed in a lot of black stuff maybe with bits hanging off, and he rolls down this pole sticking out the front of his float. Of course, with icicles sticking straight up off the pole, he goes through them as well and they go flying and sticking into the general landscape. It seems that this is one way of his taking over the town, because he's the new leader. (Whatever his name was in the dream, he was played by Johnny Depp.)

The float kept moving even after he left it behind to go up a hill to the mansion reserved for the current leader. The pole on the float rammed into the side of the town square and pushed a bunch of ice and stuff up into what was supposed to be a podium on the hill leading to the mansion. Either I or someone else said he was ruining the podium thing, and then we realized it was changing into a big abstract sculpture that was cooler than the podium had been.

So anyways I decide I want to go talk to this leader person, like I have something important to tell him. I think the idea was that I wanted to end up being someone very close to him, and that what I had to say had the power to do that. But as I start walking up the hill, there's suddenly this odd child-sized almost-freaky-puppet-thing that I'm holding with one arm on my hip like I would a child. (It was dressed all in black, very tight clothing.) Apparently this is an after-effect of the leader taking over. I'm not really afraid of this thing, as someone else would be, but I talk to it as we're going up the hill and into the mansion. It seems okay with that.

One of the rooms we pass by has a piano in it, and I walk over and touch some keys. The doll-thing seems unhappy that I leave the piano behind, he pricks me with his fingers wanting to go back (those fingers are sharp, ow!) and I say something like there might be another piano in the new Master's room. So the freakything is appeased for now.

I get to the Master's room and I'm not really sure if the doll-puppet-whatever is still with me, but I'm looking around this big really-goth bedroom and the Master shows up. He's now dressed slightly more formally, like a rich vampire or something, and I don't remember what he or I said but I know we talked about something that wasn't directly related to why I was there. Probably the room decor. At any rate, I started to explain why I'd come...

Then I woke up.
