Escaping Shao Li

I was an Asian woman (possibly in Korea?) somewhere before the Industrial Revolution, in the town square of the small village where I lived. I was holding a young boy who couldn't have been more than two years old, who I think was a friend's child I was watching for the day while they were away. A European-style carriage came into town and stopped in the square, and everyone getting out of it seemed very nervous. Also, people around the village were now also acting scared, but I didn't understand why. It was like they all "got it," and I didn't. And yet, they weren't doing anything but standing around worriedly.

I asked the people near me what was going on, and they gave me wary looks for even asking. One lady came closer and whispered very quietly in my ear, "Shao Li." I knew then that this was a fearsome warlord who was known to leave no survivors. I think everyone around me didn't expect to get away, and were thus waiting to hope for mercy or a quick death. Uhh, whatever! I turned around and booked it for the far edge of town, keeping a tight hold on the little boy.

There were some trees beyond that and then a deep valley with hills afterwards, and as I started crossing the valley I heard gunshots ring out from the village. So much for mercy. I was worried that maybe the warlord used dogs to find any stragglers, but would they pick up my trail or just be confused by all the scents in town? If I could remain unseen, nobody would know I was out here. I followed just to the left of a creek cutting its way up the far side of the valley, and could see some encroaching shrubbery that made a nice tunnel along that waterway with room to walk on the side I was on. This also led into deeper forest.

Logic was breaking down by now. I remember looking back and seeing a modern-day freeway with a few cars going by, on the back-left side of the valley behind me. I reached the sheltering overhang and kept running along the waterway, and eventually out into some more grass broken up by rocky outcroppings and more bits of forest. Things started to fall apart worse when I tried to feed the little boy something, and I know in the meantime it did seem like there were enemy scouts out looking for us, or guessing there was someone who had escaped.

Although I woke up before any sort of resolution, we at least stayed free for the duration of the nonsense.

Pyramid Head on repeat

The details are fuzzy now, but basically Pyramid Head kept chasing me and my real life family through various locations. And we knew fully well he intended to kill us all. At one point, we hit very slippery and thick, consistent ice on a roadway, and were somehow managing to slide along on our feet. We looked back to see Pyramid Head ice skating behind us on two of his kind of sword.

The dream kept repeating, sometimes because I'd woken up, thought about it, and went back to sleep. Each time it restarted, we'd try a different combination of things to try and get away easier. The restarts were very annoying; at one point as we'd more or less gotten away. Every time we were back at the start (some sort of vacation spot with our belongings) I'd try to gather up useful things quickly and then get everybody running as fast as possible. I remember carrying at least one of my kid siblings at various points. Their ages seemed to change throughout the dream too.

Also, on some of the restarts, just because I knew what was going to happen, some or none of the others didn't. So it was like, "Look, we're all gonna die if we don't move it so MOVE IT run run run yes out the door no seriously DEATH IMPENDING! MOVE!!!"

Eventually I woke up for the last time.

Needed by a future world

There was more to this dream, but what I remember was running down an asphalt road at night. I think I was trying to get away from someone? But I was alone for the moment. Bright light hit me and I looked up, knowing nothing should be up there. All I could see was a bright point of light that was rather close and coming closer. I knew it was something from another world. Aliens, whoo!

I stopped, I didn't run and I wasn't afraid. I waited, and I felt pulled up into the light. A voice spoke to me as I felt pulled through time and space to a very futuristic world. The voice told me not to be afraid and that they needed my help to save their existence from what seemed like an overpowering threat. I was the only one who could do it, or so their calculations had told them. I was placed in a space ship that I suddenly knew how to pilot, and this ship was smack in the middle of a large space battle. The ship was a fighter so I zoomed through the chaos and let fly with whatever firepower the ship had.

Then I woke up.

Running from McLeach

I was an Australian girl of about 12 years old sneaking through the dark in an attempt to let some kangaroos out of the evil McLeach's fenced off property. (McLeach is the villain from Disney's The Rescuers Down Under.) Also on this mission was Cooch (nature-happy treehugger type character from the Aussie comics Footrot Flats, skinny guy of indeterminate age). We split up and he went further towards McLeach's homestead. I made it to the part of the fence I wanted to cut but what I thought was going to be easy wasn't; McLeach had put in a very strong, brand new barbed wire fence that was quite tall. Luckily I'd brought wire cutters and wasn't afraid to take a little extra time.

I cut the section of fence I was by, but then I heard animal friends shouting that McLeach had just gotten into his truck at his house and was on his way to look for troublemakers. (Yeah, apparently I could talk to animals.) I was worried about Cooch but at this point it was everyone for themselves because if McLeach caught *anyone* it would be bad news for whoever got caught. I could see Cooch further up the road trying to find a hole in the fence on the other side (not McLeach's fence). I'd lost my wire cutters somehow, so I had to squeeze through the barbed wire on the non-McLeach side of the road. I found a space big enough but got scraped up a bit.

McLeach found the big hole in his fence and was quite upset. He had at least one or two dogs with him. He started looking around for who might have done it and calling out taunts, knowing I was probably still close enough to hear. Meanwhile I was busy trying to keep quiet; I was making my way fairly quickly along the bottom of a cliff but I was still too close to the road. I knew the fence wouldn't stop him if he figured out where I was even though it marked someone else's property.

I remember getting away and finding friends again, but for some reason as I was telling them what happened the dream rewound to the point where the animals were screaming it was time to run. This time I ran the other way along the road, further away from McLeach's place, with no real intention of trying to crawl through the fence to someone else's land. The road was very open and there were now two people with me, random people who I guess were on my side (stupid dream logic). There was nowhere to hide because of high fences, but then we found a tree at a corner and climbed it. This was a great idea at first but then the tree became flimsy and we were trying to hold the branches up, keep still, and look like tree parts ourselves. It was also suddenly broad daylight which made it even harder to hide.

McLeach drove by and stopped. He looked up at the tree and started making comments about it, meanwhile everybody in it was scared to death he was gonna see us. He didn't for the moment.

Then I woke up.

Earthquake and car accident

(from a few days ago)

I dreamed I was with mother unit in a car driving along a freeway in Taiwan. We were talking about something, and I was looking at how the road had been designed. The area was very hilly so the freeway had been made in two sections, one for each direction of traffic, and most areas were raised on pillars. We passed a section on the other side that had a road crew all over it and at least half of the road had fallen in. I said something like, "That must be damage from that earthquake they had recently."

Then a huge earthquake hit and both sides of the freeway started breaking up everywhere. Mother unit drove faster because that was the only real option at this point, we were on a section raised above a lake. We thought we were gonna make it and then the road tore apart right in front of us and dropped off into the water. Next thing I know we're freefalling straight down towards the lake. I remember tugging my seatbelt a little tighter, and a feeling of adrenaline like being on a roller coaster.

We hit the water and survived relatively unhurt, but now the car was filling with water. Mother unit was freaking out but I told her we were okay and to calm down, and then to open the door and get out of the car. We pushed the doors open and swam out; the car filled with water and sank. It didn't sink very far though, because the lake apparently wasn't very deep. I realized I had no shoes on, and I sensed rusty cans and stuff on the lake bottom. The water was a very murky brown. I swam back into the car to put my shoes on and then headed for shore where some rescue people were pulling victims out of the water.

Then I woke up.

Coffee and solving mysteries in Hawaii

I was a wiry athletic kid of about 13, female. I lived on the big island of Hawaii and my dad was the local sherrif. (This is all modern day, and my father looked like a cross between Kurt Russell and Michael Douglas. He was not my real-life father in any way. Seems like any mother figure was dead or out of the picture.) I was in his office as they were discussing that one of their people was missing... our people, I was often hanging out at the station or with him or his officers somewhere. Seems like it was summer vacation, so school wasn't an issue.

Dad handed a stack of oversized arial photographs to someone else and said, "Here's the photos of a perfect flight on the aircraft." Apparently the gal who was missing was investigating drug running or something, and had disappeared somewhere after leaving the station last. She was supposed to take the plane to somewhere (I forget where, it was important to the investigation) and had obviously met with foul play somewhere along the way because she hadn't made it to whatever rendezvous had called in saying she was missing.

Dad was thinking she'd been intercepted after the flight, but I saw the photos and said, "This is where it happened. You should look into this, the pilot or someone on the plane did it." He asked me why I thought that and I said, "Why would they send you photos of a perfect flight? It's like they want you to overlook them." Seems like there was some reason why it would be difficult to investigate the flight crew, like they were usually trustworthy and had friends higher up. But my words swayed him and he said he'd have to send something to a guy I also knew half way across the island. Dad was plenty busy trying to round up a search of everywhere but the plane and it's owners and all things related. I offered to take the stuff he wanted to send by bike, I'd done similar things before and knew the way.

He told me to be careful and I left with the file in my backpack (I think it was a file anyways, the dream logic wasn't up to par for that part). Beside the station, along the main road of town were a couple buildings including a bar (on the right when walking out of the station) followed by an auto repair shop. I'd left my bike chained up with a bunch of others in front of the car place. As I got it off the rack a big mean-looking guy came up and accused me of trying to steal his bike. He argued with me for a moment while I was trying to keep him calm (I didn't feel like getting beat up and nobody else was around at that moment.) I said, "Fine, let's go ask Big Louie, he knows my bike," plus Big Louie never let anyone give him crap. Even me, who he was fond of. Big Louie was a huge Polynesian guy who owned the car repair and could always be found on the premesis without looking very hard.

The mean guy backed off as soon as I mentioned Big Louie. Figured, the jerk was just trying to make trouble. I got outa there fast and stopped in front of the bar where an asian lady I knew was selling coffee. I told her I was headed across the island and she asked me to deliver a big ol' pot of coffee since I was going that way already. (The coffee thing looked like a cross between a thermos and a large-style coffee holder from restaurants.) Yeah, I said I could and so loaded that into my backpack. Boy was it heavy... but I cinched up the straps and got going. The bright, sunny weather was kinda hot but I had a bottle of water on my bike and I was used to this kinda thing.

I rode on the sidewalk through the busier traffic of town and before long was zipping along the side of the road after the sidwalk ended. For a while I only passed one oncoming car and nobody passed me, which was typical. Then I hit the stretch where the road got very steep and windy and the area was very sandy. I was carefully maneuvering through this area when someone in a pickup tried to run me off the road. I ended up in the sand, still on my bike, but it was very hard to pedal through the stuff. I made it a ways, shortcutting across the sand to another section of the road, but the truck was coming back. I ditched the bike and ran across the dunes. I knew I was somewhere near the water but couldn't see it.

There were people chasing me now, it's like they'd been waiting in the area for me. One of them was the mean guy from earlier at the auto place. Well, suddenly all of that made sense and I figured these guys were the same ones responsible for the officer lady's earlier disappearance. If I could get away I could tell Dad... but the odds weren't looking good. They caught me and dragged me back to the road. I vaguely remember being hauled off in a van... and as logic really started to bail from the dream I remember hoping that the bad guys had left my bike where I'd ditched it and forgotten about it. Dad would come looking along my bike route when I didn't turn up... plus I'd ditched my backpack there because it was so heavy, but I think one of the guys took it.

Then I woke up.

Man-dog

I started this dream as myself but ended up turning into the hooded blonde guy from the previews of Da Vinci Code (he looks somewhat like Roy Batty from Blade Runner). This guy was actually a dog, or had the power to turn into a dog. The dog version was rather large, sort of wolf-looking. The parts where I turned into a man, I don't remember having any clothing... but I guess that makes the most sense.

The dog belonged to a boy, they were best friends. The boy didn't know at first about the dog's other form. The government one day found out where this man-dog was and came after him. I (the man-dog, dog at the moment) remember being in a grocery store with the kid. A sort of SWAT team showed up and I told the boy to run (I guess I could talk as a dog) and we ran out of the store by alternate routes. It seemed like the SWAT team was also after the boy, maybe because he knew too much.

We met up outside the store in the dark as it was night time, and ran across an empty field of grass and weeds. There was a fence we had to climb, and I turned into a man to get over it better. On the other side of the fence was an unpaved but well-used road. The SWAT team had a vehicle and it was pulling up to us fast, they caught sight of me with their headlights. I told the boy to keep running, and helped him climb back over the fence and another fence that was kitty corner to the one we'd just climbed.

It seems like I was having trouble getting over the second fence but I wanted to make sure the boy got away. I wasn't even sure they knew he was there with me, and if they didn't, that was even better for him. I remember being afraid they might catch me, but at least he'd get away.

Then I woke up.

aliens in my head, part deux

This is a continuation of the alien dream I posted last time, just with a lot more plot holes and goofy stuff that makes no sense. If you haven't read the first dream, you'll want to or the rest of this won't make sense.

It was daytime. Apparently we had survived the first alien attack. Or it hadn't come, for some reason. The house that was key to the last dream meant less in this one, and it had changed in looks and location. It was smaller and surrounded by desert, not really sandy desert but sort of limestone stuff. Plus it was near a huge chasm.

Anyways, I heard that my Kurt Russel alien story had been made into a movie, and that the VHS version was newly available at a town up north of the house. I decided to go get it, thinking there was enough time before the alien invasion. I took an eastward road around the chasm and then headed north, I think I was driving a safari-style jeep.

I don't remember if I got the movie or not, but it seems like I ended up back at the house, to find out that a whole ton of people (who must have lived in the area, maybe including the townsfolk from up north) were going to the other side of the chasm to a network of caves to hide out from the aliens. And that they had already left... and once they got in the caves, they'd seal some special doors that had been built there, maybe by the government. I could see them on the other side of the chasm, they were in a long line and some of them had torches because the sun was setting. There were people with me, probably my family or remnants of the people who'd been with me in the first dream, and I knew we would never make it to the caves on time.

So I said something about making full use of our closet we'd stocked with food, and that we should get on in there.

Then either I woke up or the dream changed to something else.
