tirsdendreams: (lost and alone)
I'm forgetting a lot of this already, but I think it started out something like an episode of M*A*S*H (which if you don't know, is an army medical drama/comedy set in the Korean War), with Hawkeye Pierce and possibly BJ, I forget who else; there were four of us total. I was I think some sort of military type person, no clue what my position was supposed to be. We were going down a corridor of some sort and something weird happened, I forget what exactly but possibly like an earthquake, lights going nuts, etc. When that calmed down we were like, "Man we better get out of here!" so we kept going down the hall and through a little door to the right. This opened up into what looked like a large empty storage room or garage, and on one side there were windows.

I knew something was wrong already as there were just stars outside the windows, and as I went closer I saw a a galaxy waaaay off in the distance. We were in outer space! Awed, and quite confused as well. Then we saw a planet come into view below, and as the apparent-ship started shaking we realized it was going to be going down through the atmosphere and landing. We managed to grab some straps or something along the wall and waited for the bumpy ride to end.

This part is fuzzy but I think we got off the ship without anyone noticing (possibly the window area was like doors and they were opened without anybody realizing we were there). The ship had landed in water, and reminded me very much of US navy ships. There were docks around and it was sort of a nice, airy public travel terminal if the focus was space ships and water.

I started asking random people questions, things about what society was like and hypotheticals and I seemed to be disturbing some of them. From what I could tell, the US Navy had taken over the government at some point and we were far in the future. I think someone even told me what year it was when I asked, but I don't remember what it was now. Questions didn't seem appreciated much to begin with, and obviously the subject matter (which seemed benign to me) was not almost like, not something anyone should talk about.

Some guards arrived and it seemed we'd been discovered. I remember the guards standing really stiffly. There was some other person with them, more of a doctor-type, I think he even had a white lab coat. The next thing I remember is that we had been placed in a series of rooms that had classrooms and bunkrooms and stuff, and there were other people around who didn't belong in that time period (they seemed to be all from ours or maybe a little later). We were learning more about the way things worked now and I think the people in charge weren't all that sure what to do with us.

Then I woke up.

tirsdendreams: (unknown danger)
The first part involved being an intern student somewhere very cold, possibly the Arctic but an actual place never came up. I think I was a bit younger, maybe early 20's, and my personality seemed a bit "please everyone" sheepy and also a bit timid. I remember having blonde ringlets too.

I was staying in the science complex wherever this was, and I think we were supposed to go out and do some research that day but it was too blizzardy so it was called off for the day. Then I realized that two of the guys on the team had stubbornly headed off to try anyways. There was a break in the weather and the team leader was worried about them so he said he was going to go find them and I went with him.

Somewhere in the process of getting up this very slippery hillside-mountain (dream logic was failing on this climb so bad) the team leader became Indiana Jones. When we got to the top, there was a continuation of mountains and hills and open grassy spaces and we were confused because there seemed to be no snow or ice at all! I think we found at least one of the guys we were looking for, and as we were puzzling over the scenery he said, "No, look, there's still some snow over here!" and went to pat the ground on a very steep, grassy slope. There was a few little tiny (and I mean a few inches across) remnants of snow there, and under the grass the ground did seem very solid, like it was frozen.

Then some odd scientist guy showed up and said something about how a corporation had claimed this land and they were going to use it for whatever they saw fit. He claimed it was dead land and nothing could grow properly anymore. I saw a little wildflower a ways off and tried to point it out to Dr. Jones and he nodded surruptitiously and I knew I was supposed to go get it. As I went to go pick it, I realized the more flowers I found the more I could prove the corporate guy was lying.

Thus ensued a logic-busting scavenger hunt for flowers. I found various wildflowers in all sorts of colors (I remember purple and yellow the most), even something like cherry blossoms on trees, and some more garden-like flowers, some of which seemed to be dying as if they'd come up too early and gotten caught by frost, but I got some of them too. Someone was following me, a goon from the corporate guy's people, and before much longer I had to run back and show Dr. Jones the flowers before the bad guy(s) stopped me.

Dr. Jones presented the evidence and the jig looked like it was up, and I remember this scene seeming a lot more alive around us as far as nature went, almost like the area itself was fighting back while we were arguing with the corporate guy.

Then I woke up.

This was I think part of a longer dream involving sightseeing or the like, but all I remember now is finding a very large sculpture that was meant to be a puzzle by the artist. You could climb on it, and supposedly there was some sort of epiphany you could get for reaching the top... and very few people got up there.

The thing was a lot of square shapes either clumped together or square hollows in the sides and also some wrought-iron sections (sort of like gates but made to fit into spaces in the sculpture) that were sometimes floor surfaces and sometimes pseudo-walls. The non-iron part of the sculpture was orange fiberglass-type material and very sturdy, and smooth.

It took a little bit of conquering fear of heights and finding the confidence to get up to the top, and when I got up there I wasn't sure what the self-discovery part was supposed to be. I think I might have realized it was the journey up and the whole having to conquer fears to reach the top, as opposed to actually getting up there. Then it felt like the thing shook a little, and I realized it wasn't as sturdy as it looked and some moronic kid or something was down somewhere in the bottom thinking he was hilarious for kicking the thing. The sculpture did at least seem to be stable enough to just shake a little, but it was rather disconcerting all the same.

Then I woke up.
